its almost that time to start catching them. i tie my own flys for them. but clousers work ok sometimes. the run fo those that dont know starts in febuary till april. March is the peak time. the whole creek offers great flyfishing if you have waders. waders are a must down there to get away from the bait casters cause they wont intrude on your spot your casting in, as long as you claim the spot 1st. there are deep pools and rapids to fish. almost just like Broken Bow in zone one. roll casting is a must in most places. last year was a great year with some magnum sandies and every once and a while you can hook into a hybrid that will take you for a run for over 30 minutes if you dont break off. i use a 5 wieght with 2-3.5 lb tippit. florocarbon is a great thing to use down there as well. i have been guiding there for 6 years and this year in 2009 will be 7. every year gets better. with last year being the best with 2-3 pounders in the mix. we lost a lot of fish that were migrating to the creek but deverted to lavon dam after the hard rain we got, so they released a lot of water and the fish went there instead of the creek. but we still had a great year last year! any questions, ill be glad to answer them.

right at morning and right before dark, you can get them on topwater in the pools. its a site to see when when they are hungry........at night use crawfish patterns or chartruse, white and glitter colors on streamers. great fishing at night there as well. bring a partner though.

Kelly, there is a creek relatively near you on Hwy 31 between Tyler and Chandler. It's called the Neches River. Beginning next month the sandies will begin their annual spawning run up that creek and you can load up on them. It is, however, not a place you can flyfish because of all the trees there.

Yes I know exactly where you are talking about, but have never fished there. It is not exactly close to my location, and there are no bathroom facilities, which makes it hard for me. But I will probably go for a short time to see what it is like there. I have seen people load up on white bass in early spring there. They come to their cars and trucks with stringers full.

Cypress creek at the north end of Lake O Pines has a decent sand bass run most years, the occasional hybrid striper in the mix makes for a lot of fun.
