Id like to brag on Rockwall Marine.

I bought a new/used 2007 boat less than a year ago and had an alternator go out back in October. I took it to a shop that was close to home because I did not want the hassle of getting it to Rockwall. (Hate the traffic) And besides, it's just an alternator! RIGHT? The dealer was very nice and told me that the alternator had gone out an additional time before I bought the boat and that this indicated that there might be something else going on, but he did not find anything so he put a new alternator on it and away I go.

Last month, my alternator went out again. This would be my third alternator for this boat. I decided to take it to Rockwall Marine on Monday around 5pm and got a call today around lunch time that the block was cracked and was spitting water on my alternator; turns out to be a defect in the block; nothing I did or anything like that. It only opens up when the engine gets hot.

I am confident that neither of the other two shops would have found this since they had already had their chance and just replaced the alternator. I know everyone has their own stories, good or bad. Just thought I would share a positive one.

I took it to Rockwall Marine because I didnt want to have to do this again in two more months. Thanks guys! And I learned my lesson about taking it elsewhere. smile

Glad to have taken..."the trash in the back!"

they took my motor, and made it run like new again. They have my business for a long time! With the service I have had in the past, I was very pleased to be treated like a valued customer.

no better service than Rockwall Marine.

A buddy and I went out to prefish on Friday morning, alarm on boat went off. Called Rockwall Marine, they tried to figure out what was going on over the phone. Jumped off the water at 8am, dropped it off at Rockwall Marine by 830. They had the water pump replaced, on board charger installed as well as a new Interstate by 1pm. Picked it back up at 2pm and was ready for the tourney the next day.

I hauled my boat to them from Wichita Falls after I was told by two other mechanics that there was nothing wrong with it. Rockwall Marine found a bad thermostat right off the bat. I would haul my boat there without question, EVERY time.

It sounds like Rockwall Marine has real mechanics rather than parts-changers.

I got tired of dealing with the dealer who sold me my boat back in April 2007 and decided to take it to Rockwall Marine this last time when the motor died on me on Cedar Creek lake (twice this has happened on the same lake). They put a new powerhead in it and I've broke it in and it is running sweet again. This was warranty work and once Mercury authorized the warranty replacement (a couple of weeks) and RM got the powerhead, it was replaced within a few days.

They have my business from now on without a doubt. Excellent staff and they follow up when they say they will. Thank you Tommy and Eldon!

That may be the best way I've ever heard it put about Tommy and his crew. Nicely put.

Rockwall is a class act no doubt. They have fixed stuff that was broke and fixed stuff I messed up trying to fix without making me feel to terribly stoopid.

Note to self, DO NOT remove shift shaft when replacing shift shaft seal.

My boat is a '94 that originally came with cable steering. The previous owner had it changed over to a Sea Star hydraulic system in '00. It was an old school type where the tiller was held by 2 bolts that screwed into the front of the motor. Those bolts sheared off last March when I was getting on a plane at Rayburn. Nobody was hurt thankfully but was quite an experience.

Off to Rockwall. To replace the tiller arm requires removing the motor and what remained of the bolts couldn't be backed or drilled out. $1,500+ to fix. Ouch.

They came up with the idea to replace the cylinder to a new style tiller setup that comes on all boats now. They drilled t the existing arm on the boat and retrofitted the new style to fit the old. $750 and change.

It works perfect. In my mind that's a better, safer setup at 1/2 the price. That's service!

This is the old setup. The plate rolls up 90 degrees and the bolts came in from the front.

Here's the new one.

And here's the refit.
