Got something to fix or tear up, anyone?

If I don't want to do it myself how can I get some one else to DIT (do it themselves) for me?

This is not OT2. Please only post here if you have something to discuss within the topic.

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

giggle-snicker-snort....I have a real question.

I have an outside faucet that barely drips when turned off. Is there some type of adjustment I can make to stop it, short of turning the water supply off to fix the problem?

Thanks in advance for any tips.

I have that problem on two of mine. Just buy the little faucet attatchment with a shut off valve. Works perfect. Like this but just with a single shut off.

You can also tighten the nut around the faucet. I think you actually need two wrenches to do this though.

Thanks - I appreciate it. I was hoping for something fairly simple. I'll try that first.

Man I'm glad to see this topic--we all need help from time to time and this will be a great resource for help.

Thanks Richard for suggesting it and thanks JP for doing it.

Both of the suggestions by JDavis and Brad will probably be a temporary fix...However, all it takes is about 5 minutes of actual work, to fix it properly...

1. Turn off the water at the meter.

2. Open the faucet fully and let it empty out...

3. Get a wrench, set of channel locks, or the like, and remove the stem (the part under the handle) from the rest of the faucet...The large nut under the faucet is what holds the stem in place...

4. Remove the rubber gasket that will be screwed to the bottom of the stem...

5. Go buy a new gasket at the local hardware store.

6. Screw new gasket on and reverse the process...
