Can anyone recomend some software that i can get to download onto my home computer to help with looking at my waypoints and trails from my new 520c. I transfered the saved trails and waypoints to an SD card and can get the info transfered from the card but dont know what to do with it. I would like to be able to overlay it on a lake map from something like google earth or something like that.

I use GPS TrackMaker. It's free and can be downloaded at www.gpstm.com. Open your data file, select all waypoints and trails and then click the google earth icon. It will open google earth and overlay all of your data in google earth.

Lowrance also has free software (GPS Data Manager) used for manageing your waypoints on your computer.

I tried GDM6 and found it to be hard to use so I bought Map Create 7. It allows you to work both ways. You can load your wpts and check them out as well as create wpts and icons on the puter and transfer them to your unit.

It is a very useful tool for managing wpts, trails, routes and icons. It is easy to be sure that they are in the right files because you can see them on the big screen instead of just an itty bitty gps.

dont mean to hijack your post, but I was messing with my dad's 520 and put a red D on it with a line going off of it. How do I get rid of this?

Lowrance MapCreate software is a great computer tool to help you managed your w-pts. You can get it at Bass Pro.

While on the map screen, select Menu --> Menu --> Cancel Navigation.

Good luck trying to read the manual. It bites. Only good for one thing and it involves sitting on the Throne.

Dayne or anyone else, do you have any other thoughts that don't cost $129.00. I tried to download the GPS Data Manager but it does not have any map overlay that I could find. I did get GPS TrackMaker to work once but now it does not reconize the files in the folder. I might have to break down and pay the $$. Just not alot of it after X-mas.

We need more info. I don't understand how it could work once and then not work. What happens when you try to open a file? Is anything displayed? You have to make sure you are opening .usr files.
