make sure that you select the right region on your nav. card. it should be box below the mapdata box you chose nav. card. the below it you should see box to select the region.
if that doesn't make sure there a check mark on navonics. in this place. go to full map then press menu key until you see map categories drawn or something like that. then press ent. key the scroll down to navionics and make sure the check mark by it side.

When i go to map data it does not give me the option to pick a region, when i try that the box is empty, and when i change the setting at the top right corner of map data from inland/lakes to navonics mmc/sd my map goes blank eccept for the arrow showing my location.

take your nav. card out.
and if you have any wpts you need back them up to sd card before you do this.
ok, lets do a hard reset then. turn the unit off. at the same time. hold down the the zin and zout key and pwr key down. once the unit comes on. let go of the pwr key, but keep holding other 2 keys in. until you hear a loud beep and US map comes up.
then resert you nav card. then try everything again.

what brand of reg sd card is it. you should be able to have both in your card slots at anytime. tell you the truth. only time you need to put in your reg. scard is when your backing things up. when back your wpts or data. make sure you take out the mapping card either Nav. card or Hot Spot card.

anyone ever notice humps, dropoffs, and other stuff on the navionics chips that is inaccurate or just plain not there at all? super frustrating when you are using these chips to look for good fishing spots. its happened to me multiple times that ive seen a good hump on the navionics map, went to the location and the bottom is as flat as a board.

Yes, I've seen exactly what you are explaining a few times while on Amistad.

Good advice Medic. Make sure you back EVERYTHING up and remove ALL data cards from the unit during any type of reset (soft or hard).
The missing humps. Could be a few things, and these are the things learned by doing something first (ie: Re-Mapping lake Technology).
1) Bait Balls or air bubbles. These can look a lot like legitimate structure. Most are removed in production. Some are missed. They will not be there if you look for the "hump"
2) A mathematical error in the data. These are pretty easy to find if they are major, but have caused problems in the past.
3) actually there but a problem with the positioning accuracy of the hardware or a map offest problem.
What helps is reporting these errors. we can fix them, but have to know they exist first. Its sometimes a tough balance, you don't want to remove good data.
The good news, newer processes have allowed us to avoid a lot of these problems and more effectively identify it on older data. 2009 HotMaps is really a watershed year for us in that, i feel, the quality and content is far stronger than in years past because of newer technology available.
