I have a Humminbird 717 on the TM with the Transom Mount Transducer mounted on the TM with the appropiate mounting bracket.

In researching the TM transducer from Humminbird it is a cylinder that hangs down similar to the transom mounted one so decided to use the Transom Mount.

In my second outing I busted the ducer off at the mounting bracket (clamp slot).

Question:
Does anyone have or have you seen or have an idea for some device that could be mounted ahead of the Ducer that would deflect the contact or be strong enough to rebound (I have springs on TM for rebound) without busting the mounting bracket?

Prior to getting the 717 the ducer was a small teardrop that fit up tight to the TM and was still going after 16 years. It won't work with new unit per Humminbird. I guess that's improvement!

There was a guy at the arlington tackle show last year that was selling a TM transducer guard. It has 3 heavy duty fingers pointing down and installs just like the transducer. I think it was around $30 for this item. It has saved my TD a few times. He was local to DFW if I remember. I cant remember the name of it though. Somebody on here ought to be able to help ya.

Picked up the Innovative at Southwestern parts for $18.95. Looks real nice mounted, feels sturdy and projects below the transducer.

Does anyone have experience using the innovative-angler guard with a skimmer transducer mounted on the TM?

The website only has pics of the guard mounted with a puck style transducer.

Thats what I have on my TM with TM mounting kit. I haven't had a chance to try it in the stumps yet but it is very sturdy. I think it will pick up more grass but I want to keep the transducer from breaking off at the clamp. The ends of the tines project below the skimmer for some bottom protection. When I can get to Monticello I'll post results from running in the stumps and pads.

The TM transducer protector worked great in the Monticello stump fields for 2 days. Zero damage. thumb . thumb
