Well, I went out this afternoon, instead of the morning.
Used the thawed shad, raw shrimp, and relented and used some Stick It punch bait. No bites any of the baits.
I do get in a hurry...I'm always forgetting something, or making a mess once I'm out.
I forgot my rods & reels one time. Got out to the lake, gathered up my tackle, and couldn't find my rods! I was like, WTF? Had to turn around and go back home to pick 'em up.
Ever tried to clean & skin a catfish with those little pliers on a swiss army knife? It's tough, let me tell you. I forgot my knife & pliers that time.
Chased my poles into the lake several times because I forgot to bring enough rod holders....that's adds some excitement though, so it's not that bad.
Yeah, real excitement would be getting that stink bait in the wife's hair...good lord, I shudder at the thought.
Maybe I'll just quit using Secret 7....that stuff is without doubt the most offensive bait I have ever tried, second being DK's original. Stick it is not too bad, and not very messy with just a bit of care.
I'll give it shot again in the morning, maybe they'll be biting a bit better.

mike why dont you mix all three together in a small tube about the size of a dk can. yall can laugh at me but i had more hits with me mixing them than useing them singe. i got one that has stick it, dk blood, secret7, sure shot, big marvs, and charlie blood dough. and i get more fish off that bait than i do on my other rods that just got one kind of bait on it. but thats just me. anyway merry christmas to all you on here and a happy new years. and hope next year i will learn more from yall good men an women. johnnyt

Well good luck with that, it has been amusing reading your thread and picturing how pissed off you were having to go back for your rods and attempting to clean the punch bait off of your hook at the end of the day. The dk original is a three day wait after using toothpaste and soap to get the smell started off. I use dk blood and get all in it with my hands, its too hard too limp around with a stick and push and pull and hope that none lands on my pants...you grab a chunk with your hand and mold it around your hook. I am constantly reminding my fiancee of the smell by sticking it under her nose for three days straight lol.
Good luck get a rubber glove and use that, clip the hooks off and chunk em away.
Merry Christmas

Guys be careful with them used hooks . My buddy's pup got it and they had to cut that pup belly to get it out. I cut my hooks off and trash them in the lake when I am done. HOOKS ARE CHEAP

i cut the hooks off and throw them in a trash bag that goes directly to the dumpster at the end of the day. I had to cut 2 out of my dogs mouth one day (she is a slow learner)

Any good advice on how to get ahold of chicken livers? I never see them in the supermarket. Also, stripers love them, at least the small ones do.

HEB has them. I've learned from 40 some odd years of catfishing, if you ain't welling to smell like bait, take up bass fishing! If you are throwing stinkbait off, you got to much on your hook. If it gets on something like a rod, just wash it off. If it gets in your boat, wash it off. If it gets in your hair, wear a hat. Any other problems, buy a rag to wipe your hands off. To avoid all this, buy a chop stick to punch a hook into the stinkbait. If that don't work, get a stick off the ground. Just joking with you Mike, sounds like you really had a bad day. Better luck next time.

I backed over a new 5-gallon can of sure shot. It was loads of fun getting it back into the bucket. Doesn't seal so good now so you can imagine what my garage smells like.
First time I used sure shot my friend and I went night fishing at a river. With all the excitement of finally catching big fish and some beer we ended up with that stuff all over us, our gear, and apparently ingested some. I spent the next two days with a hell of case of diarrhea. On the second day, I called my friend and he had the same problem. I still blame it on bad beer.
If anyone plans on using punch bait for the first time don't forget the video camera. As long as Benny keeps making sure shot, I will use it.

Warning against Chicken Livers. I was ready to unhook my trailer at full speed down the highway last year after I couldn't get the dang chicken liver out of my boat. Leaked out all under the boat. Use the boat for skiing too so my wife wanted to kill me. Tookl about two weeks and some serious deep cleaning for it to fade away. Never again. I love the days I go bass fishing and get home and I am done. But I will be heading out to go catfishing tomorrow, so I am asking for it.

Does J. Piggs make your hair soft? I'm gonna put some in my wife's conditioner bottle. If you wash your hands with gasoline when you get home, you won't have to smell the stinkbait anymore. Just be careful when you go to throw another log on the fire...

Took my wife fishing with me at lake Proctor when we were in college . We had a tub of livers. When we were loading up to go home, I told her to put them up front to keep them cool (it was August). I was gonna use the rest of them the next week. Well, my wife puts them in the floor of my truck and on the way home, she manages to kick them up under the seat. This was Sat. morning..remember its August. Well, we get home and unload and I rolled the windows up on my truck. I didn't go anywhere the rest of the day or on Sunday. (Remember my windows are rolled up on my truck in August for two days with a tub of livers under the seat....)I get in my truck on Monday morning to go to work and almost threw up. I quickly rolled the window down and drove to work with my head hanging out the window like a Basset Hound. I'm wondering "WTH is that Gawd awful smell?" Well, I finally get to work and I have to find what it is, so I start searching my truck. I get to the passenger side and look up under the seat and there is a tub of green goo bubbling like crazy under the seat. I almost threw up for the 50th time ....Ahhh, the good ol days...My wife doesn't fish with me anymore...
