Im not sure I know that I would consider what kind and most importantly what size Swimbaits you are throwing...

If you are throwing legitimate swimbaits 2 oz. up then I would go with a swimbait rod.

Although if you plan on throwing a basstrix use a heavy and up 7' so you can throw and roll cast it in places where you would put a spinnerbait. A swimbait rod will be to cumbersome 1) because the length and 2) because of the length of the handle will make it difficult to manuver.

Although for Anything that isn't a basstrix go w/ the swimbait rod. You can check some different ones at www.customanglerods.com

You can view the swimmaster w/ an internal weight system for balance or the California Swim Bait Rod...Although I wouldn't recommend that rod unless you are throwing bricks.

Just An extra opinion Good Luck!

Check with Stan Browning. He has a bunch of Dobyns, and a couple of the swimbait rods and I know he would let you try one.

Michael,

It definitely is up to the size of the swimbaits you use. Corey is right about if it is a 2 ounce or bigger a swimbait rod is in order. I use a g-loomis cbr 906 for basstrix, shadalicious, sebile and california swimbabes.

The Dobyns swimbait line-up are by far the best swimbait rods I've used! From the 795ML to the 807 Mag I'm able to match EVERY swimbait I throw! They are very light for their size, extremely sensitive, and have the power to put BIG bass in the net without taking any lip. :-)
