Yes, They are in Calaveras lake in abundance... I think it is called a plecostamus(sp) Mostly caught in cast nets.

They do grow very big,I have one about 12" in my aquarium.
I would rather have a bad day fishing,than a good day at the office!

Too many in Calaveras. Makes throwing the net for tilapia kind of annoying at times...when you get one of those guys in the net, its heck getting it out.

that's a pleco in other words an algae eater
they're meant for fish tanks but they get to big and people don't know what to do when that happens and they release them into public waters but as far as seeing them in texas other than a pet store i don't think anybody has.
