Decided to hit up Texoma today with Mando(XYZ). He is in the doghouse but still fishing and catching. Launched at JP West and it was COLD---I mean really painfully cold. Glad I spent the extra money for the SealSkinz gloves. Got as aclamated to the cold as we could and made a short drive west and found birds working sporadically. Graphed fish for 20 solid feet in 30 foot of water. Dropped a Riptide Flats Chub(glow/chart) down to them on a deadstick and the bite was on for a steady 3 hours. Probably missed 10 for every 1 I caught. Tried dipping the tail in garlic and it seemed to help. Even caught a few on homemade flies that I tied on a drop shot. Saw JD Lyle head our way and thought he was going to join in but he went into Cedar Bayou for bait I guess cause he left after a while in the marina and went elsewhere. Fish shut off around 3:30 and it started getting colder so we called it a day. We did get to see a bald eagle for a while so that was an extra bonus. Other than JD and a Lowes boat didn't see any other boats all day. Great day but we were happy to be back in the truck with some heat!

You guys are brave. I went Saturday and didn't do very well. Caught a few but it was tough. Saw Fuzzy and his son, they did better than us. Thanks for the report.

My hats off to you for fishing today.

I froze my butt off walking from the mall to the parking lot. I can't imagine how cold it was on the water.

I'll tell you how cold it was.. On my way to CB I stopped and fished a while. Found fish working hard and caught a 10lbr on my first cast, by the time I got it to the boat my hands hurt so bad I had to wait 5 minutes for them to warm before I could cast again. On the next cast another 8lbr and same thing. Hands hurt so bad I couldnt cast again even tho I had 8-10 lb fish running into the boat...was able to catch 4 before i said the heck with this and went about my biz....Probably could have caught them as long as I wanted if it werent so danged cold.
So how cold was it?? It was so cold I refused to catch anymore fish even tho they were active and all around smile smile Thats pretty dang cold .

Not for this old man. Admire you young whipper snappers. Stayed close to the fire and painted slabs.

On a side note I had a catayltic heater that I bought on clearance last year at Home Depot for $15(normally $60) was a lifesaver yesterday.

I'm still sneezing from being out there on Texoma all day Sunday. 20 mph winds and in the 20s. It was cooooold. Now that I'm thawing out, think I'll hit EM in the morning for half a day. Good to see other Real (...dumb) men on the lake. Macho hmmm
