Al's Pizzeria 3701 Northwest Highway #159 Dallas, TX 75220 214-350-2714 http://www.dallasobserver.com/locations/als-pizza-5117/ "This venerable establishment, which has been facing Bachman Lake since it was a puddle, feels like a slice of Manhattan in the middle of Northwest Dallas. The pies are enormous and juicy (dare not say greasy), served so hot and sloppy you need 10 napkins for just a slice--and a fork, too, unless you've brought a change of clothes. The pizza's available by the slice, but like the commercial says, you can't have just one." "Best Of 2003: Best Pizza "

AL's gets my vote drawing comparison to Ray's in NYC. Haven't tried Mama's but will after these posts. Anyone that mentions Napoli's & great pizza should be served a mistermeanor in my book & I live walking distance to the Centerville location.

5th street Pizza in Allen has really good thin crust St. Louis style pizza. The Mighty Meaty is my favorite. http://www.5thstreetpizza.net/
Hank Hill : Just in case I'm incapacitated for some reason, do you know how to start a man's heart with a downed power line?
Bobby: No.
Hank : Well, there's really no wrong way to do it.

Papa Murphy's in Carrollton at Rosemeade and Old Denton. The Stuffed Pizza is great.

Thank you Lord for the gifts in my life

Any of you guys ever eat up at The Tomato in Denton, before it moved?
Just across from UNT, in the Fry Street area? The pizza was really, really delicious. You could order a "custom" slice which was a huge, thick rectangular slice of pizza they'd make separate, and you could get all the toppings you'd want on it. I'd usually order two with pepperoni, Italian Sausage, Pineapple, Jalapenos, and extra cheese....GREATNESS.
Sadly, their very historic building has long since been demolished by greedy land developers to make room for some kind of BS "Upscale" strip mall.
The worst part? They demolished the building years ago, and STILL haven't put anything else in! Just a muddy, fenced off field where the best pizza around used to be.
Anyone else ever go there? Has anyone tried the new location? I heard they moved, but have no idea where they went, if it was as good, or if it's still there.

I used to live in Ponder and The Tomato in Denton was for sure the very best. I too was saddened to hear that the powers that be decimated that wonderful historic section.

I got the answers for my masters comp's from the bottom of cold draft from the Flying Tomato. They used to have a hot air baloon they would advertise with. The back parking lot saw many a night of learning the fine art of ... never mind.

They broke the mold when they closed the Flying Tomato. The closest I have found is Joe's here in San Angelo on S. Bryant. But, it's still not the "Tomato".
