What do you guys think of these? I'm thinking of getting rid of my foot pedal model. more standing room. So, remote control model or hand operated?
Thanks

I have the MotorGuide PTSv 109 with both the foot and hand remote key fob) and find that I use the remote more. I can be anywhere on the boat and it works just fine.

Some people think they are slow to react or turn and stay on a spot. make too much noise. I like mine for fish alone I can use it from anywhere in the boat..Great for striper fishing.. I think it takes less effort too.......Bluewave cc....

I have the Motor Guide 24v 75lbs thrust... I am a diehard crappie fisherman, and whether any other crappie fishermen care to give it a shot or not, I can truly say that it is by far the best there is for such application. It can handle up to 4 devices (foot wireless or remote or both), and I have 1 foot control that came with it in which I never use. I bought 4 remotes and I would never turn back. Keep in mind that mine is 2yrs old...Newer model may be even better...
I rubberband the remote on the jigging rods and thus, I can fish w/ both hands and control the boat all at the same time.
Here are some of the pros and cons...
Cons: 1) A little noisy as it turns 2) Not as smooth turn as one might expect from a hand control 3) No light indicator to let you know your current speed selected. Once turned off during high speed, the next time you turn on might knock you out of the water... 4) Some interference from time to time (but that goes w/ all wireless) But since I have 4 remotes, the other 3 usually work just fine in such particular location momentarily. 5) No reverse, you just to have to rotate it all the way to the angle you wish to travel 6) Easy to mount and dismount so thief would also like to dismount it effortlessly
Pros: 1) Hand free. Never have the handle in unwanted position 2) Foot free. Never have to loose balance while controlling boat and not tie to a specific location of seat or stands 3) Can be any where on the boat 4) Great for guides to allow clients to be at front deck and not crowding up w/ clients, yet still has total control of boat 5) Great for tournament fishing w/ partner. Once partner also can operate, he can control while you unhook your catches ...etc. 6) If trolling motor is touching bottom, no need to lift out of the water. Move to back of boat will pick up enough for you to get out of the delima 7) Remote can be tape/tie directly onto rod for simutaneous control while fishing w/ both hands. (I realize it's tougher w/ bait cast reel, otherwise, it's great) 8) Very quick response...Not what most thought on earlier models 9) Variable speed, not stuck w/ just 4 or 5 speed 10) Built-in universal stransducer (don't get the one that isn't built-in) allows tangle-free of the transducer cord 11) Extremely easy to install and remove once base plate installation is completed 12) Great energy saver (I use 2 gel cells, and I can fish ALL DAY w/ no prob.) 13) Ever want to see your other electronic at the main console while at the trolling motor?...Well, no you can see both at the same time!!!! 14) Easy access power light indicator to let you know how much juice you have left during an outing.
I am sure I may miss something here and there, but I hope it's enough for you to make a logical decision for you application!!!

I have seen a guide on Texoma drop off his boat and then (somehow) depolyed the TM and used the wireless to have his boat meet him at the courtesy dock. That was the coolest thing that I had seen all morning It was 5:30
you know, nothing wrong with seven men who met on the internet going for a swim together

Last night I mounted a Minn Kota Terrova 101 with transducer, Auto Pilot and CoPilot (wireless) - upgrading from a 24v foot control. Testing it out on Friday afternoon and using it hard on Saturday. Thanks, SlabmeSilly for your comments on how you use it. I did not use a mounting plate - it is bolted straight on the bow...so no steeling this one. I decided to buy it after talking to some guys in the Texas Striper Association that have been using them in the striper tourneys.

You're gonna like it Fuzzy, I love my Minn Kota power drive with auto pilot. I don't have the wireless feature though.

I have a 80 lb thrust 24v Minn Kota Riptide model on my Pathfinder 2200.
More time fishing and less time operating the motor.
Had it two years now and still LUV it!
Get it with digital and auto pilot.....locks on the heading and holds.....great device
