12.14.08 Conditions were less than perfect. The strong tide movement was about all we had going for us. We found shelter from the wind and worked all day. Managed a few reds and flounder. We had the most fun dragging in these sheepies. Video LINK

What type of bait were you using. I used to fish the Surfside jettys a lot and always caught them on live shrimp. Used to see an old salt killing them using fiddler crabs.

They are delicious fried. But always skin them first before cooking; it makes a world of difference in the taste.

Live shrimp. I've heard they can't resist fiddler crabs. What type of bait were you using. I used to fish the Surfside jettys a lot and always caught them on live shrimp. Used to see an old salt killing them using fiddler crabs.

You mean string 'em through the eyebones as revenge? YESSIR!!! and eating him/her felt that much better as well... What type of bait were you using. I used to fish the Surfside jettys a lot and always caught them on live shrimp. Used to see an old salt killing them using fiddler crabs. fiddler crabs are BEST, bar none. You can catch'em on "beach" near the flats. Jus look for their holes where they live. I like using a casting net to rodeo them in and jus grab'em and throw'em into a bucket. Live shrimp and ghost shrimp are a great substitute. The biggest sheepshead i ever caught was a 1/4 of blue crab i was using to catch reds.

I caught my first sheepie about 3 weeks ago fishin near St. George Island in Florida. My cousin and I brought in about 20 or so, all caught on live shrimp. And yes they are delicious and very fun fish to catch!
