So, I'm heading to Academy tomorrow and then probably going to test my luck at granger on either wednesday or thursday and need some help.
Unfortunately I am still boatless (though i am looking for a small aluminum v-hull if you're selling) so i will be stuck bank fishing. Am i going to be able to get on any of these zillion brush piles that i read about or am i pretty much SOL?
Now, what in the world should i buy at academy?
Its been a good while since i have caught any crappie and i've been meaning to do this for quite some time so I'm pretty excited! Any help that ya'll can get me would be awesome!!!
thx eric

Small jigs, small bobbers, dont worry about brush piles. Go find a creek.

Like the man said, find a creek or river area of the lake. Drift minnows or Jigs under slipp court at various depths. Cast out 10 20ft. from bank if trees will allow let the corkwithbait drift with wind. Bittercreek

I picked up a few crappie last Monday on the San Gabriel. Red head/red body/chartreuse tail Jigum Jig a foot under the bobber. Fish it slow around the many stumps. A little twitch here and there. You might try the fishing pier @ Fox Park also. Northeast corner inside the fishing hole seems to hold quite a few fish. Drop your line to the bottom, reel it up 3 turns and slide it under the cedar tree in that corner. Once again work the jig (with a chartreuse crappie nibble) slowly or if using minners just let it sit still. Give me a buzz or drop an email if you want to take a guide trip on the lake. Phone # and email are on my website.
Keep on fishing.

Follow their advice Erock. No fish on brushpiles now. Get the smallest minnows you can and drift them in the river. Good luck.

I was wondering about the San Gabriel around where the primitive launch is at. boy, I havent fished granger since football season started. I wouldnt have a clue where the crappie are at now. And I understand the lake is so low, I'd be afrfaid to take my boat

It would help if we knew where you were coming from. Here is a general direction. First road to the East on the north side of the Hwy 95 bridge over the San Gabriel. Follow the road for about 2 miles. You will come to a dead end with a sharp curve to the left and a gravel road to the right. Make a right turn down the gravel road to the primitive launch. Good luck and let us know how you do.
Keep on fishing.
