Not a reel. But I bought the Bass Pro XPS 3 bank charger, charged my batteries once, and it is said to be waterproof, but shorted out on me. Exchanged it, drove 200 miles again, did the same thing... I called them, they said to ship it and they would give me a gift card to compensate for the shipping. Went and got a minn kota, no problems. Also, I went to the bargain bin, wrong move, and bought a few of their CB's. On every one I bought, the lip fell off with about 2 or 3 casts. You get what you pay for I guess. But the customer service at Bass Pro, was in Grapevine, did not do me wrong.

I had 2 of the round Pro-Qualifier reels. They lasted a couple of years and just wore out(way sooner than I expected).I called thier reel repair to see what it cost to fix them and was told they didn't work on them(makes them a throw away I guess).I have stopped buying thier reels because I decided you get what you pay for. They are not bad but I can afford a little better reel now and would like them to last a little longer. As for the Grapevine store they have been very good on anything I have taken back, really gone the extra mile and resolved any issues I had.JMO

I understand this is very common practice for BPS.

I've got some of the Extreme combos, and they've performed very well so far, and I fish quite a bit. I don't know if maybe it was just the store you visited.

I agree 100%!!

I started out on the BPS combos. After wearing them out with one year of almost daily use, I switched to shimano. If you watch for sales and get your rods @ academy during rod riot, you can have shimano on a nice rod for the same price.

I work at BPS part time and I know that would never happen at my store. If you still have it bring it to the Pearland store and get a new reel no questions asked. That should be the policy at all the BPS stores and if it is not report it to HQ and it will get fixed I promise you that!

I had a problem with a rod&reel combo I bought at the Garland BPS, the rod tip broke and almost ended my fishing trip luckily I had a spare. I called the Garland BPS store that same day and I told the guy on the phone what happened. I also informed him that I had just bought it two days before but had misplaced the receipt. He told me that if i didn't have the receipt they couldn't honor the exchange policy and that looking up the receipt wasn't Standard practice even though i used my credit card. I then went into the BPS at Grapevine and they took care of the whole problem. They called Garland and had them look up the receipt and gave me credit for the rod. I think that Grapevine BPS has better customer service and will buy from them whenever i am near it instead of going to the one that is a lot closer to me.
