Moved down here from Irving approx. 1 yr. ago, but spent month's on the road, doing power systems for ATT. Now, all new work has been shut down. (Thanks iPhone, don't want to take the chance of any service interrupts on their new million dollar baby, only emergency [censored], which their FOUR tech's do)Anyway, since I now have no work, where can I fly fish in the Houston area? Thanks.

Get in touch with the folks at the local FFF club the Texas Flyfishers.and talk to Marcus at the Orvis shop or any of the other fly shops.
The TExas Flyfishers has a all day tying and fishing show coming up on Feb 7 if I remember correctly.
Big Dale
Have fun with this stuff.

Many years ago I used to fish the following spots in Houston area that had good bank access.
Sheldon Reservoir San Jacinto River (at US59 bridge) Lake Houston (2 parks, Eisonhower & Duesson) also below the dam
There is a big pond at Herman Park, I havent fished it, but saw others doing so. Some of the city ponds are stocked with trout.
Of course some of the best fishing down that way is in saltwater.

Thank you for the suggestions. I actually drove all the way out to to BOTH Sheldon, and Lake Houston yesterday. (Sat.) Sheldon is a joke, so grown over that you couldn't even cast to anything, and, on the North end, where TPWD says there is bank fishing, the parking lot gate was locked, with an alligator warning sign, and that is grown over from shore out to about 30'. Then, drove up to Lake Houston, and it was to windy, not even worth it. Thanks for the suggestions, will try some of the ponds, and the Fly fishing group.

Like I said it was many years ago (1985 is when I lived there), Sheldon was a neat place, I caught some big bass there, it was also the first time I ever saw a bowfin (when the ugly critter ran off with my worm & I thought I had a world record bass).. brings back some memories, hate to hear its overgrown, btw the alligator signs were there back then too.
