Tomorrow they are stocking trout at P.K. tailrace and I was wondering if anyone here has ever fished ther for trout. Is there bank fishing, or do you need waders or a tube?

Hey Cliff -- I believe there is bank fishing etc. Wading allows you to reach different places and helps keep your backcast out of the trees.

Bring your waders if want to get to the good spots. My brother will be up there with a 9" rainbow trout rapala fishing for striper.
It's more than the catfish would do.

Anyone have a report on trout at the PK tailraces? I was planning to head out this weekend (even though the strong wind will make fly fishing tough). I've actually never been fly fishing at PK, does any one have any suggestions on spots or what flies have been working? Thanks in advance for the help!

If I can get away I may try and make it for part of the day. I wear an orange vest and Orange hat -- if you see me say hello.

I use to fish the tail waters of Possum Kingdom years ago. Depeding upon Midge hatch you can use top water or wolley buggers (Black or Olive) for these rainbows. Don't expect large ones, unless they started stocking larger ones. I normally used flyrod only on this mouth of Brazos area, but to do that you normally need to walk away from damn from 16 overpass a mile or so. Normally you can spot them from the bank, but right at the overpass you can use powerbaits and spinning tackle from shore if you don't want to get wet or have waders. Let me know if anyone has fished this in the past month or so, as I'm heading down there in a couple of weeks.
