This is great news. I plan on attending the meetings local to DFW in favor of the one fish per year harvest of trophy gar.

Very cool!

If I read it correctly, they first need to vote in favor of officially proposing one or more of the regulation options, and then will move forward with the public hearings once that's done. ( I assume once they have decided on which of the options to go with. )

I filled out the online form in favor a tag system (since C& R wasn't on the list)

Sweet.... I personally voted for the "retain one gar >7 foot" option after reading that it took about 30 years to reach 2 meters in length.

I like tagging but it opens up younger fish, also, the tags would be "available for request."

In any case I hope that everybody gets a chance to click on the TPWD site and express their views.

Zuhmann, thanks for posting this link!

Brigadiers,

It is a given that we already support this but let's dig a little deeper. Get everyone you know to complete this and send it in. Make sure that they choose the 1 per year option rather than 1 per day please.

Moms, dads, sisters, brothers, friends, neighbors, and so on. Lets overwhelm TPWD with support for this.

I have been emailing everyone I know overseas for support and they are sending it. This link is even posted in the British Carp Study Groups forum and some of the biggest names in British angling have already submitted their forms. A similar movement is happening amongst the Germans as well. Get EVERYONE you know to submit this.

Those of us who were at the commissioners meeting last year may remember how important the online survey was to the commission. They read out some of the reports of what people had to say online. It seemed to have more importance than even the town meetings.

We HAVE to win this one!

Rally em up, please.

I really don't mind that option too much either, I'd really go for either one. I'd prefer a zero harvest-- but I think they've got their options worded correctly-- either option pretty much makes it illegal for humans to wipe them out from angling. Of course it won't help one bit from a habitat perspective but one battle at a time, eh?
