Does it hurt them to leave them in a boat?
The coldest it gets around here may be 18 degrees for a day or two. Will this affect the grease in the reels or the flexibility of a graphite rod, the line?
Thanks for any input and Merry Christmas to all.

I would not leave my gear outside in the boat for fear of a thief!!!If boat is in garage then nothing will be affected!!!

It won't hurt them at all. Just think about all the hundreds of thousands of rods and reels in boat all over the northern states and Canada where 18 is considered warm this time of year.

I store all 30 or so of mine in the house with all my other toys, but I'm a bachelor, so I guess I am probably in the minority here...lol.

Keep mine in the house. Like looking at them. LOL. My family fusses at me for keeping mine in the living room. I too like to look at mine. Besides, they cost more than most things in my living room. Good room decoration in my opinion.

That gives me an idea. I can hang all my rods and reels on the wall in the living room. Wonder what the wife would think. To answer the question, they are all in my boat in a locked up shop.

I keep mine in a case I made from 4" PVC. The only time they leave the back of my truck is when I'm fishing with them. I have seen no ill effects yet.

took some of those screw in type hooks and put'em in the wall so i can stand my rods verticaly in the house, that way when i wanna go fishin i can easily find my weapon of choice and not spend time trying to untangle them, wife doesn't say anything cause it finally got them out of the living room

The ones I am not using during the winter are cleaned and oiled and stored in the garage. I lossen the drag on all my reels I am not using. That way they are ready when I need them. I never leave a reel in the boat. They will get dirt and water in them. The ones I use are in my van ready for the next fishing trip.
