For the past 10 months I have been using a 1/8 oz jig head with a #2 sickle hook. Have been considering trying the same size jighead with a #4 sickle hook. I fish solid body jigs only. What is the preference of the folks on here and do you see any advantages of one over the other.

I prefer the 1/8 and 1/16th oz Jigums with the #4 sickle hook. Never seem to have a problem hooking the fish.

Keep on fishing.

Doug, I always fish Sickle hooks and I fish a #6 all the way up to a #1 depending on the size of the jig body I'm using. If I had to pick one size, I'd pick the #2.

I use the #4 sickle hooks in 1/8 most days including Sundays.

What is the purpose of the sickle bend hook. I have used them and there is know way it is stronger than the reguler hook it will work on small fish but have missed some big fish on them.

Marc,

Your not setting the hook hard enough. Thats all I use and I catch very nice fish on them.
