Went to Fork yesterday, fished from 8:30 to 1:30. Fishing was a bit slow but there are a few crappie showing up on humps. Plenty of bait fish on the graph crappie are soon to follow i hope.

Moved my pontoon down to the South end this evening in preparation for some deep water crappie. So ready for some fresh filets.

I went out Saturday. Fished on the west point of Little Caney. Started out in 25' of water with a jig rod and minnow rod. Caught 5 fish from 7:00-11:00 am. I was about to go in and then I decided to move out a little deeper. Started hammmering them. Finished my limit in 45 minutes. Most of the fish and all of the bigger fish came from 30' and didn't start biting until late in the morning. Minnows were better as I only caught one crappie and one bar fish on the jigs. Most fish were 8"-11" with a couple of 13"-14" fish. I will be back out there on Saturday...wind allowing.

Almost forgot to mention...the lure/minnow had to be just off of the bottom. Two reels up was too high. Had to be 6" or less off of the bottom or right on the bottom.

That's what I found out two weeks ago "just off the bottom" barely... I also had a big bass try to eat a small crappie while pulling him up...Caught me by surprise and I missed him...I was wondering what the heck is happening why is this fish so heavy now...DUH

Is it the time where you have to keep all the crappie you catch out at fork now? Thanks Steve
The gene pool could use a little chlorine.

It would be nice to go but between work and wind it is bad.
The gene pool could use a little chlorine.

Question for you guys...How do you setup a "cannon ball rig?" Is it like a drop shot for bass fishing?

Question for you guys...How do you setup a "cannon ball rig?" Is it like a drop shot for bass fishing? Just tie on 2 1/8oz jigs about a 18in apart. Fish very slow and you will be cannonballing.
