Fishing in my newly restored boat. Fishing for the first time out on it Saturday. First fish I have caught on the boat IS A NEW LAKE RECORD AND ON CEDAR CREEK NO LESS!!!! I have another lake record (8lb 2oz LM Bass) in Ennis. Fishing Rip Rap in about 10 ft of water she hit my Chartreause Chatterbait like a ton of bricks. This 9lb 6oz Beast was on the end of my line!

Great fish, congrats on the record! Drum are great fighters!
Lake, it's actually a freshwater drum, a native Texas fish. Carp are a golden or bronze color with real big scales, and barbels around their mouth.

Yep. The current lake record is only 6lb. Its not a new Lake record Bass, but a lake record is a lake record. Just neat to have. Not that many people even think about recording something like a drum but I will take it. The state record is over 30lbs so I'm sure there are ALOT bigger out there.

I have never looked at the lake record for drum at Tawakoni but, my 8 year old son caught one 11 lbs about 2 years ago. Now, he's hooked on them.

No one has even reported catching a Drum on Tawakoni. If you want a record, next time he catches ANY size drum send it in. If you need the info on how let me know or just look at the Texas Parks and Wildlife page.

Would that be called a buffalo???? No, buffalo=sucker family, carp=minnow family, and freshwater drum= drum/croacker family
