This morning texasdjl and I were ready to hit the scheduled Dec 3 stocking of Millers pond here in San Antonio. However, we were forced to make other plans. We called at 7:30am and asked when they would be stocking millers pond.(yours truly wanted to make sure our efforts werent for nothing) As luck would have it they decided to change the stocking to tomorrow which at this point is today. The other piece of bad luck is that AE Wood also stated that they wouldnt tell us what time they would be stocking.
So now for the second night in a row I find myself unable to sleep in anticipation of my first trout on the fly.
Sorry, I had to get that off my chest.

Oh that would be disappointing. You are lucky they are stocking this soon. Your weather is warmer than up here in my area...and they won't be stocking here for some time. They want the kids to be out of school for the holidays I guess. It will be pretty nippy when they stock here I would imagine. I wish there was more bank access so I could fly fish better. I think I will do some spin fishing...at least to start out. I will get my fly fix this weekend I think. The days seem to fly by. I am looking forward to fishing, haven't done any fishing in a while.

It's more than the catfish would do.

My situation was similar.
We got there around 8:30am and the fished showed around 10 or so from then till 2:30 only 2 fish were cought on the whole lake. One right after the release and the other hours later by a hungry bird of some sort.
Beaten and battered we returned. We stayed from 4:00 till dark and again went without trout. We hope that tomorrow will be a better day.
Instead of the same thing happening at the guad tomorrow we are gunna risk missing the stocking and hitting the park again in hopes that the trout will be hungry.
Oh and i forgot to mention today was the coldest day yet for us and it also happened to be a very windy day. So bottom line I look like a racoon with my badly wind burnt face.

Not in this lake Scott, the TWPD only put 120 in and then the front came. I bet it's better afer the third or fourth stocking.

I was at millers pond on the 3rd, took my wife and kid out there and waited.....waited....waited....gave up at 1130 with 2 dinky little bass, went on the 4th and saw zero trout caught,no bites, and only saw a couple of catfish caught. Heard they pushed the stocking back again?? I plan on hitting up Bandera on monday and the guad on the 20th.

Technique wasnt the issue at this pond, the real problem was the lock jaw.

Lockjaw possible...withdrawal probebly. They have to treat the fish with stress relief stuff so they won't die in transit. Takes a couple of days to wear off.
