 Spinning Reel Doesn't Lock

Hi,
I have a Shakespeare Cirrus Rod and reel that I bought at Walmart a few days ago and I don't know if I set it up properly because the reel will not lock. I can spin it in both directions freely so that when I pull on the line it just comes out with absolutely no resistance at all.
I tried tightening the drag but that didn't do anything. Any help here would be appreciated.

possibly a little lever on the bottom that needs to be pushed the opposite way.

Yes, there is a lever at the bottom but it doesn't seem to do anything!

When you pull on the line, does the handle turn backwards or does the spool just spin around freely?

The handle spins backwards. It goes forward and reverse and I can't seem to stop it from going in reverse

It's that little lever that was mentioned. If throwing it to the other position doesn't turn on the anti-reverse, then it is broken and you should take the reel back.

yea if flipping the anti reverse lever doesent work take it back.

What kind of line is spooled on the reel? Mono....braid?
