Since I live in san marcos I hit the river every now and then. Just to wet a line, plus it is really close to my house. Wanted to share some pics from the river today...To me, the river LMB fight like SMB, so its always fun. Started fishing from the bank about 745. On the third cast I landed a 17 incher. Here are 2 pics keep in mind that I had to be the photographer and and in the picture.

And here is a 16 incher

Sad thing is that I missed 3 other nice hits that I am pretty certain were decent fish. Still a good day even fishing from the bank.

SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a humble fisherman in the service of our Lord.
Started fishin at 5 years old and can't stop.
I've owned a boat every day from age 16.
I fish for every type of fish in every different way.

Yep, The SM is very good. I fish it regularly from a 2 man boat. There is good water south towards Martindale and Staples.

How is that river for kayaking? I'm in south Austin, so with the spring fed creek staying at a constant temperature all year, that may be an ok spot for me to try one of these days.

For kayaking check the San Marcos at Luling. They have a kayak and canoe stretch from Highway 90A to Highway 80 at Luling City Park. And I can tell you from growing up on that stretch of river, it is full of bass. Nothing huge but a lot of fish.

butch sanders- I think that is what the park is called. All I know is that its where the lions cub tube rental is.

wildbillatx- I have fished the river for over 10 years now. When I owned a kayak I floated the san marcos all the time. Its a great place and definitely worth checking out. There are some huge bass in there (5lbs +) the hard part is getting them to bite. Usually if you can see them then they can see you and won't hit anything

Nice haul Crumple Chrome.

The San Marcos is excellent Kayak fishing. We usually go up or down river from Spencer Canoes/ Shady Grove (Martindale).

Real nice folks and they will handle your shuttle if you need it.
