actually, the best place to fish is from the back of seat of a champion or around the creek channel near the low bridge on the west end of the lake. there are great places to fish flukes and ring frys around the reeds near this area, however the big fish are deeper near the channel

I will be out there this coming Sunday for a club tournament. When I get back I will shoot you an email about how it went... You might have to bump this topic back up or I might forget, though.
I know that Leon caught water in the last set of rains that we just had. It's about 1 foot low right now, and I would imagine that the water is pretty muddy in some parts of the lake.

Hmmmm.. Lake on a slow rise with dirty to muddy water tells me all I need to know.. SHALLOW!!! Pitching jigs and a colorado blade spinnerbait should work just fine, maybe a slow moving black buzzbait too. Look for newly flooded brush and grass. If the water is muddy, don't waste you time deeper than 3 ft. Unfortunately, I won't be headed that way anytime soon.

The Bwd Bass Club fished there at the end of last month and the majority of the fish came from the creek on a dark color worm, pumpkin/chartreuse worm, white Spinnerbaits. The lake only came up 9/10ths so the creek shouldn't be that much dirtier than it was when we went. I caught some fish on the main lake down the La Macha bank docks, straight across from La Macha in a small cove and in the small cove to the right of the dam on a Persuader Crankbait. The better fish came out of the creek on the left side about half way in the over hanging bushes and then in the mouth by the docks out of the thick weeds. When you turn into the creek to the left a bunch of fish came weeds and willows on the left down about 200 yards. There was a early bite then it slowed way down the about 1:00 pm they started hitting again. The main baits I would use would be a junebug 4" power pulse, 7" pumpkinseed/Chartreuse power worm, black/blue StrikeWorks jig, white buzzbait and a 1/2oz white spinnerbait.

The Bass Club of Fort Worth fished Leon two weeks ago. I had been catching fish off the pond weed patches away from the bank, but tournament day was dark and cloudy, and my 4 pounder as well as smaller fish all came from the shallower weeds on the bank. All were caught on a horney toad on the western half of the lake. Good luck.

Thanks Eric... 11 tournaments since May 28th with 3-1st place finishes, 3-2nd place finishes, and a 6th place finish...It has been a sweet ride, and I hope I can keep it going for just a little longer....

The guy that got first place was up that direction. I did start to go that way, but never made it... He only beat me by .82 lbs....
May have just been a weird day, though. It was stormin' real bad with lightning everywhere. Most all of us didn't put in the water until 7-7:15 a.m. That and the North wind might have locked a bunch of the fish up.
