I throw alot of smaller (4 and 6 inch) hard and soft swimbaits. ive been using a 7'6 flippin stick and its really not gettin the job done, just doesnt have the tip for it. im looking in the $200 range, so im not looking for a loomis or anything like that, what should i look into?

If you are looking for a rod with more tip, Custom Angle Rod's Moby Series has the perfect rod for you. They are built with a moderate tip to give you the perfect action to allow the bait to get completly in the fish's mouth and yet have enough backbone for a solid hookset. In addition the reverse wrap will make it nearly impossibble to throw the swimbait. If you are looking for a 7 footer look at either the 7 magnum or 7 heavy. If you want a longer rod the 7'6" H will get the trick done. If you want a legal one piece 8' the swim master fits the bill. If you are throwing baits like the bass trix hollow body etc. I would opt for a 7' footer for versatility. I.E. skipping the baits along and under docks and being able to roll cast the bait like a spinnerbait.

You can check the rods out at:

I'm using a St. Croix AVC80MXF Salmon/Steelhead rod for Mann's Swimbaits, and Money Minnows.

I'm looking to get an AVC80HF for heavier swimbaits.

I use a custom built Waterloo. Jimmy and the gang built it based on a Jig blank. 7'3". Awesome performer with nice parabolic backbone.

Delo's has the Dobyns 795MLSB on sale for $139.00 right now. You'll never see that price again once this sale is over. The rod was designed by Mike Long, one of the nation's premier big bass, swimbait fishermen.

Take a look at the this rod. It is has a moderate - fast tip, and a little lighter. If you are wanting to shorten the length, you might talk to Mike Hendrix and see what he would recommend in a shorter version.
