Okay I have finally decided to go get me a boat. Center console for salt and fresh. Im leaning towards the bay designs over the flats designs with all the young kids i have i need some hull to keep em from falling out.
I am looking at these and wanted any feed back on them...good and bad...its a big investement and would apprecaite all the feedback I can get.
Blue Wave 220 PureBay = rigged out is 36,995
Mako 2201 or 2101 = rigged is about 31,000
Now these have popped up in my search that Im really needing feed back on:
Triton 22LTS - Looks good but have no idea on the reputation - rigged out 32,000
Key West ???? - Rigged out with all the bells and whistles is 30,000.
Just needing to know if i should pay the 36,000 or if the trition is a good one too???
Any feedback or horror stories is welcome!!!

Shallow Sport is my choice.
Politicians, baseball players, high-powered corporate CEO's they all seem to eventually let us down. Nature, however, does not. Look to her for inspiration and you will learn the secrets to living a good life. The most Important lesson it would seem is to make sure you spend as much time fishing as anything else.

If you want these type of bay boats I would buy a Pathfinder. Of the ones you listed I would probably buy the Triton. Any of these aren't your bullet proof bay boat but if you take good care of it they will be fine.

Bluewave and Mako are good choices as well as Kenner. I own a Kenner VX and am very satisfied and by the way, all the grandkids love it too.
At least my boat and truck are paid for, woo hoo!

One more thing to consider; with the tough economy, you can likely find a screaming deal on the boats you're looking for that are only a couple years old. Check the dealers used inventory or search www.traderonline.com to see what kind of price you can expect. Obviously, if you buy a used boat, take the time & expense to get it inspected carefully - compression test etc.

I just bought a 22 LTS and love it so far, though I have not got it in the saltwater just yet...hopefully december...definitely a bigger boat than what I'm used to, but handles well and had a fun time experimenting on rough lake water a few weeks back.

I have a 2000 Key West and it still looks new. I have had zero problems with the boat or the Yamaha 200. I do rinse the motor EVEYTIME for 15 full minutes and it still runs perfect. Key West most often come rigged with Yamaha.

sounds like you're looking for a liner boat? out of those, the new Pure Bay design by Bluewave is a great choice and has a great finished look. but to shave a few K's off the price, maybe look at the bluewave Extreme, it has a liner type huge casting deck, and a great finished rear deck as well, just doesn't come with the completly 'clean' look as the Pure Bay. at 36K you're almost to other custom texas made bay boats like a 220 gulfcoat at around 38K equiped nicely, that boat is clean and gives you more shallow water options among other things. Once you get into the above stated Shallow Sport and Pathfinder, you get into the high dollar custom type boats, Shallow Sport is worth it, Pathfinder is not. The Makos Kenners and Tritons are great affordable boats, but would be classified by me, as a mass produced drop together shell type boat carried by the franchised type dealer, Cabelas, Bass Pro, Travis, Waypoint, etc...
either way, good luck and get out there and catch some fish!

Nautic Star, Frontier ( by Bill Kenner), and of course, the Blackjack (also by Bill Kenner) are all worthy of consideration.
For the money, I like the Kenner/Mako line. They are still in the old Kenner factory as I understand it, but that may have changed since I've spoken with them.
Now, Donald...please pick John Bolton for your running mate.

I have a 22' Pathfinder that has proven to be an excellent boat. I think you should take some test rides before making a decision. I found that the pathfinder had a better and dryier ride than most of the other brands you mentioned. If I was personally going to replace my Pathfinder I would go straight to a Haynie and never look back. Hope this helps I know it is a tough decision.

tman is right on this one. I have a 2001 22ft. Triton Seaflight and I would not trade it for any other boat of its size. It does have a jackplate on it. She will run in approx. 1.5 foot of water. We use it on the lakes in Central Texas and take her to the Gulf several times a year and she takes the blue water with the best of them. It trailers well and that is with a T-Top. Check Tritons out.... you will not be disappointed. I never met a man yet that has one that would trade it for any other boat.
