Any ideas on good spots near Irving? I live right off 635 at Macarthur and have noticed some spots along Riverside and Valley View that are 5 min from my apt. Anyone got any tips or advice on what to cast, where/when, anything else?

All my TX fishing experience was in one pond, so I have a lot to learn about the area.

Thanks in advance.

Jonny

That's the thing, I assume that there are multiple species in the river, and it's associated streams, so I'm trying to figure out what is best to catch during the fall and where.

That being said, mostly bass and cats, crappies during the fall. I am trying to learn more about trout fishing, but not sure if there are any in the river anyways.

Do you have a pole that you can get a long cast with? If so, head East on 635, exit Luna, make a right on mira lago (sp?) and the river is right there - opens up into a nice pond. Fish it closest to the channel as you can get and let me know if you catch anything. Big cats move up through there, but they have not yet arrived...

southwest OR northeast....southwest is easier to cast to (near the haggar building), but the channel in the northeast is a lot further out (if fishing from the south bank). I don't think there is any access from the north bank, that I know of. I suppose you could park in the housing developments and walk it, but it's kind of far.

Made it out to Mira Lago for a couple hours today (2-4pm), got nothing on night crawlers casting around those docks there.

You need to walk out much further (towards the river portion). That area is very shallow and prob has very little structure.
