I have never fished fairfield or caught reds, but a couple of guys and I are going camping out there this weekend. I would appreciate any help in catching reds or largemouth. We are staying at the state park, but will have a small jon boat to get around in. Thanks in advance for the help.

Hey B,

The hot water discharge will probably be busy on the weekend, but if you can get over there, there are usually reds just out in front of it at daylight and again at dusk. Trolling down by the dam can get you some reds once in a while. I would look for points with some vegetation for the largemouth. Depending on what ramp you put in on, I have pretty good luck in the last big creek on the south side of the lake just before the dam. The cove on the north end of the dam can hold some good bass sometimes as well. It's a small lake and if it's not windy you can probably cover the whole lake in a day if you've got a gas motor. good luck.

BIG RAT-L-TRAPS 3/4 oz and up. They love red or chrome.

Based on the current ramp conditions, I would say that you will pretty much have the lake to yourself!

Yeah...I was out there last weekend and there was absolutely no one else on the lake. It is sometimes nice to have a boat small enough to launch from the bank.
