I plan to canoe the Hickory Creek arm of Lewisville this Saturday with a buddy of mine, and our 4 year old boys. This is mostly a fun manly time with the kids, but we plan on draggin along basic fishin stuff.

In case you're familiar with the area, we'll be putting in at Old Alton bridge, and canoeing about 4 miles down the creek to the Sycamore Bend boat ramp.

So my debate is, what should I fish for this time of year? Most of our time will be spent in the creek, with some in more open water.

I think it seems early for a sandie/creek spawning run. Is that right?

Anyone else know what we ought to try and catch? Crappie? Cats around the logjams??

Lake is down about 4 feet be careful lots of sand bars out there right now. If you go to the yahoo maps zoom in enough you will see sat images of when the lake was really low don't use google they have newer images. As far as fishing we were catching Hybrids on Spinners back there two weeks ago. But the front has moved in and dropped water temp. We had nothing last weekend.

Thanks for the advice on the maps. I looked on YAhoomaps, and the creek channel is definately different.

Anyone else know whats biting in the creeks right now?
