Well if you are looking at an Abu Garcia the Revo S series is hard to beat for under $100. The new Citica from Shimano is one of the best reels for the money at $119 if you want to go just a bit higher and go with it.

I am in the same boat. I just got back from academy and was lookng at the silvermax reels. I dont know if these are good ro bad but the are deffenately in my price range. I looked at Abu Garcia's website and couldnt find anything bad about them. Any suggestions or advise would be appreciated.

Thanks

I would go Revo. I have 2 of the Revo S and love the sh** outta them.

Also, there's the Quantum Tour Edition PT on eBay for the same price as the Revo. I bought a 7.0 and 6.3 from this guy for $105 and change each with free shipping. He still has some left if that interests you at all. PM me and I'll send you the link to his auctions.

I have both the Revo S and the Quantum Energy PT and Tour Edition PT's, and any of those are about as good as you'll get for around $100.

I like my Energy and TE so much that I feel bad for neglecting them when they were priced at $180 and $230, respectively.

So you're saying that there's nothing left of them???
