The boat I can inspect and know what to look for. Any Yamaha owners out there that have this motor or know if this motor sounds right in this video? Granted, it's on muffs and sounds like he started it from cold and it's also 8 years old and may be close to rebuild time... who knows.

Does it sound about right, or sound sick at all? Thanks for any comments. Compression test should be done, but for now I am just looking for comments from others with experience with this motor.

Thanks in advance for watching the video and commenting. The boat has a good price, not overly good, but good enough that i'm skeptical that something major is bad or going bad.

Just for curiosity sake, how much for a full rebuild on one of these motors?

I didn't own one long but have had all Yammies for a lot of years without an issue.

There is little to nothing that you can tell from hearing that motor run, other than it idles well. It starts, stops, and looks like it's moving water (not hard since it's being forced through the system with a hose).

Good luck, take her to a pro to get a good look, that's the only way you'll tell anything.

Have lots of customers with Yamys a lot older than this still running great. Check to se if this Yamy had the oil pump recall while your getting motor checked out. #1 problem with Yamys is the manual fuel pump diaphrams. Make shure fuel gauge works on this boat. Just went through this on same boat. Fuel sender is almost impossible to get to. You have raise the front of the complete center section where console and seat are located to get to it. Rebuild about 4K
