Well, I think it was me squeeling not it squeeking. Anyway, I was in Denison taking the wife to work and thought I would slip over and check out the river. When I got there one of the guides was on the rocks by the old bridgeand they were wearing out some BIG OLE stripers. Well, I couldn't resist. I grabbedmy rod and a couple of white and yellow clousers and off I went. Second cast BAM caught a 20 incher. I then caught a small one before donating both clousers to the rocks.

Sorry about the cell phone pic. The trip was not planned.

I guess I just run with the wrong crowd, or fish in the wrong spots. My fish don't make noise! All of you people catching big, honking bass or big, squeaking stripers make me embarrassed to pull my big, quiet fish out of the water.

What am I doing wrong?

Okay. Let me get this straight.

LMBs honk. Stripers (just one p) squeek. And catfish croak.

I'll add that blue gills tinkle.

What noises do other species make?

Sometimes those drive-by fishing expeditions can be the best. I think we don't have our expectations so high when we just stop and fish somewhere for a little while versus planning an expedition for days or weeks in advance. I think SBridgess said it best and that's why he is quoted in my profile.

I stopped by Fairfield for a couple of hours yesterday for just such an excursion from the bank. However, I've never been as thoroughly skunked as I was yesterday. I had one halfhearted bite out of two solid hours of casting, but that's the way it goes. I think I've read far too many posts on here about how awesome Fairfield is and I had my hopes set way too high. I'm guessing if the lake wasn't so drastically low I might have had better luck. It was very odd walking around on what would usually be the lake bottom. I suspect it is a whole different lake from a boat.
