I have a question about Rules & Regs and would like to email a game warden or TPWD.

Anybody have an email contact?

Thanks in advance.

Jeff,
Also the six old geezers website has a section in their website called "ask the Warden" where you can post questions for the warden, but I don't know if it's an Okie, or Texan.

Thanks everybody. I got my answer.

In case anyone is wondering what I was asking:

I've been seeing pictures posted that confused me concerning limits on guide trips.

I had thought I had heard and read, that a guide could not contribute and/or add to a clients number of harvested fish. And I was correct.

My question to TPWD was:
If I take a guided trip with another friend, how many whitebass and
hybrids can we harvest?

That would be two clients & one guide on the boat. Daily bag limits for
whitebass are 25 per person. Could we keep (harvest)
75 white bass total?
Hybrid stripers daily bag limit is 5 per person. Could we harvest 15
total?

Their answer was:
On a guided fishing trip, the "boat limit" is equal to the daily limit
multiplied by the number of clients. On the trip you describe, the group
could keep up to 50 white bass and 10 hybrid stripers.

The guide and his paid assistants (if any) are not entitled to any fish
of their own, and can't contribute to the boat limit.

Just in case anyone was wondering or didn't know the rule. thumb

Yeah, have seen some guide photos that got me counting fish, but one never knows for sure if all the fishermen were in the photo.

I hear that. That is a good reason not to say anything to them because you just never know. That's also why I never asked the question here. And it's also why I posted the question and answer here so that if they didn't know the rule on it, then they could change.

I can think of a few instances where a guide posted a photo with some hybrids in it and only "mentioned" one "client". Two things that we don't know for sure. There could have been more clients and we don't know for sure if it was a "paid" trip or not.

This was just for clarification for me and also posted as a reminder.

I was told by a guide several years ago that they used to be able to count the guides catches, but there were many guides that would schedule two trips a day so they put a stop to it. Don't know how accurate that info is noidea.

I can see that. You take a large party trip say with 4 people it is, in my opinion, bad enough that you can harvest 20 hybrid stripers. It just compounds the problem if they can add the guides limit to that also which makes it 25.

Then throw on top of that if they schedule two trips a day. That's a possibility of 50 hybrids being harvested.

Sandbass - who cares.
Hybrids are a provided "take" resource. Someone has to put those little fishies in there before someone can take them out. At that many fish being harvested per day per guide, it could potentially harm the population.

Just my thoughts.

And some guides run larger than 4 client trips. Not that there's anything wrong with it. It's within the law and I have no gripe on that.

But if they're adding their limit to their clients limit then it's a different story.
