my pull rope is getting frayed, might fall off in the next couple of trips. anyone changed these out before? i glanced down inside the top of the mount, seems like it'll be a booger to change. any help is appreciated.
it's a Motorguide 56lb foot control.

not sure but you might try cutting the end of the rope at the TM end and taping the new one to it and pull it threw.

Not bad at all. I change mine every couple of years and always carry a spare. They sell for about $3 at marine dealerships.
I take mine loose at one end and tape the new one to it. I gently pull it through, throw the old one away and tie the new one at both ends. It takes about 5 minutes.

They are not bad to change, but I don't mess with the replacement pull ropes. Someone on here recommended using mule tape and I changed to that about a year ago and it has not frayed at all. I carry some extra in the boat just in case though.

Easy to do and I would recommend using the flat rope they used to pull cable underground. I t will never break on you

What's mule tape and where do you get it? Ought to be able to get it from any contractor that does boring, electrical, or irrigation work. I use it for my trolling motors and for my rope to tie up with. Just don't get hooks in it. SE Kansas grass grower
