Ok, left College Station late afternoon Friday towards to Rockport. Got over there (3.5 h trip) and pitched my tent. Took a shower (cleanest bathroom amongst all state parks Ive ever been actually they built new ones, but its always been kept very clean!). Didnt have plans for the night, but something flourish my curiosity, the pier was full of people late night. Went over there and saw a frenzy of trouts popping in the water surface Shrimps everywhere jumping in the water surface. The chase was beautiful, atta strikes! Went back to camp site (400 yards) and brought my rod, caught about 4 trouts, didnt stay long, had to meet someone to fish next morning, also it wasnt that easy to catch them trouts, LOL.

Beautiful morning.

Put in the kayak Saturday morning, the other guy didnt show up, I went by myself. Paddled about 6 miles, the water was calm, pristine clean, saw several schools of small redfishes, mullets, crabs, one stingray, a flounder, several birds, etc Went to St. Charles bay and north of it, didnt see any alligators Very beautiful place, although it seems to be kind of dangerous, especially if it gets foggy, bunch of motor boats at high speed. Lost one run, my line broke, fluorocarbon line, knots might be a problem if not well done. Also it was a 12# test.

Time to PIG OUT! Went to Boiling Pot Quite a good experience with Cajun food. Wow, our first time to this type of meal. I am hooked! Didnt go kayaking in the afternoon, too much food! I hope you understand it!

At night we decide to hit the pier! Same ol trouts popping again, but few been caught! They were just not hitting the plastic! Also, if you throw your fresh good looking shrimp bought from the market, they wouldnt hit it either. BUT, if you had the same shrimp caught fresh out of the bay, o boy, they would bite! It wouldnt matter the size of the shrimp, if could be skinny as a needle, they would hit it. Also I found a metallic cylinder body lure with two treble hooks over my tackle box, and then EUREKA! I wasnt just fishing, I wasnt just catching either, I was HARVESTING! It became boring after 1 hour, few people was catching them, but I was just hammering the trouts My arms are sore, and so my fingers! Only one thing, the two days, I just few trouts over 15 inches out of about 100 trouts caught But it was fun, long time I dont get this lucky. Some people were catching big sheepshead and Gaftopsails.

Met two nice guys from Dallas that came at night check on my yak, they were riding two O.K. trident 15 ft. Next morning one of them got a 18 inches red, I didnt catch a thing. Also decided to take some digital pics, needed to practice a little bit.

All in all, it was a nice experience of fishing and kayaking. It has allowed me to know other places, see how beautiful mother nature can be, and best, making new friendship.

The pics are great,I wish I lived only 3.1/2hrs away. Goose Island is a fun place to fish.I was down there back in june it was all mud. the pic of the birds sitting on the poles is a good spot to fish.Go to the left of poles to the old broken down dock fish out from the dock fish use it like a hwy.

Great report and trip.

Thanks for the great pics, Peterpan.

You need to make that same drive North next trip out, so you can get yanked around by some big Brazos cats or stripers.

The coast is a mighty strong draw, I admit.

Hi Shane, I must admit the Upper Brazos hold big monsters, I really wanted to go up there someday, same distance. Just by looking at your reports, you SUCK! Dang, you are da man on those waters.... Great reports those of yours, very elaborate, nice landscapes, nice pics, and fish! Thanks for sharing with us!
