 Houston/Galveston Bay fishing anyone? Need Help

Hi I'm in Houston till maybe the new year from San Antonio working the IKE restoration and sure wouldn't mind taking a day off to go fishing.
Does anyone have any good suggestions on where I can get some pole bending action on the weekends?
I don't have a boat so fishing the shore/bay/pier/wading etc would be my cup of tea.
