I've seen some HUGE catfish swimming around hydrilla, it helps all fish. Don't assume the catfishing will suffer just because you can't catch 'em the way you use to. You just have to change tactics and the fishing should improve for all species. More habitat for all fish means better fishing all the way up the food chain.
I say, make 'em move the docks somewhere else and let every lake in Texas fill up with Hydrilla. If they don't want it around docks, rake it out or dredge the bottom to make it too deep to grow.

Just don't let them go too far with hydrilla control and kill a good fishery. (Lake Conroe)

Fishtx, I lived in Willis and was fishing Lake Conroe 4-5 times a week when all that happened. I remember it clearly!!!!!!!!!!!! What a loss that was, Boom to bust in a period of about 3-4 weeks! Yamur Carp, my Hiney!! There was some chemicals involved too, that stuff turned brown, the upper end of the lake got dingy for a while and it simply dissappeared!

Lake Austin got the carp because the homeowners and CoA feared putting chemicals in the drinking water supply. Forget about the pesticides and fertilizers that wash in off their beautiful lawns...

Yeah, cause the gas, oil, fish poop, pee, bird ****, fertilizer, weed killer, road runoff, trash, vomit, algae, bacteria, sewer, etc. that's in every lake doesn't make it into their drinking water.
You fellas that live down there should start spreading rumors that those grass carp start chewing on wooden docks when the grass is done and have been known chomp on skier's legs when there is nothing else to eat and they will be so large, they have also been known to take young children underwater, drown them with a death roll and suck all the skin and meat off their bones.

Just in case you were serious El Guahpo.....No. White Amur ( AKA Grass carp ) do no eat children lol. They can eat plants like crazy and decimate the vegetation in their envirnment when over stocked, but no, they don't attack people or children lol.

Sure they do Starless, let's not give El Guahpo a false sense of security. Run man RUN!!!!
Yeah Davec, I believe it. Funny, I bet the rich on that lake will complain with the water turns into mud becausee the hydrilla won't be there to filter the dirt particles anymore.

Well it's about time someone took action. I've been reading entirely too many positive fishing reports from Joe Pool lately.
Does anyone remember the "Nightline" episode when Ted Koppel read all the names of dead American soldiers in Iraq? Maybe fishermen could sponsor a program on which the names of all the Texas fisheries killed by the Hydrilla Police were slowly read, as "Taps" played softly in the background...
Conroe...
Martin Creek...
Cooper...
Austin...

Lose the grass and lose the bass...are you crazy? The grass also makes the water clearer by acting as a filter. Glad I live on Rayburn!

The point just north of the swimming area and an area by the dam that I did not think the were suppose to touch was void of grass on saturday. So it either travelled or the did not do just the areas they said.
