I always go to Copano pier and it's not that great to me. Yes you can get ton of trout and gaftops but a lot of rays too. No hardheads.
I tie my rods to the pier and one time in the middle of the night my surf rod just goes horizontal with the drag screaming. Well it screamed until I was out of line and BAM! Probably a shark... who knows.

On the upper Texas Coast, around the Galveston area, the Surfside Jetty produces well for specks. The Jetty is about 1,000 yards long, and is paved on top all the way down, and it is free.
Now some folks might be upset with me for saying this on a public forum, but they have been catching some nice snook over on that Jetty that past two years.
I have fished all the piers in that region and my favorite spot is the surfside jetty.

Here is a picture of Oscar Wilkie at surfside. Oscar got the largest catch and relese tiger shark from the surf in 2007 on the Texas Coast. Tiger went 600+ lbs.

Dude, Isla Blanca looks choppy for tomorrow. Think I'll skip and try midweek.
