The smell is staying in your clothes because you are washing in water that is too hard. Hard water decreases the effectiveness of soap. If it is hard enough the soap does not really work at all, it cannot release oils. So they stay on your clothes.
Or you can quit fishing for catfish. They are nasty.

my wife is a major catfisherwoman. i have to cleanfish till 2 in the morning. femine wash is the only thing that works, kroger brand works for us..gets the smell out of your clothes and hands. hope this helps.
