I hear of this place a lot, but I don't know were it is. I know Deadmans, Whitehouse, twin trees and a fw others, but I have never figured out where the Gravel Pits are.

Can somebody fill me in, please?

Take a look at this map: http://www.lonestarlakes.com/map/guestmap.php?map=lewisville
When you come out of the shallow Lake Dallas cut, head straight out into the middle of the lake. The red dot that is on the "Garza-Little Elm" title marks the spot. That is the approximate area. Good electronics will show you the varying lake bottom which is the signature of the Gravel Pits.

The gravel pits are humps surrounded by 40 foot water. The humps come up to about 20 feet from the surface. Search "gravel pits" and you may find the coordinates. We were out there today with some excellent results. It will be worth the effort.

You will see some real sharp transitions as well as noticible humps. Some of the humps in LL are gradual, these are not.

That lone star map site has helped me out several times. Thanks to whoever posted it in the first place.

Thats my imagine. somewhere floating around is another map I put together for Lewisville as well that shows a ton of the community spots. I'll tell you this, I have no reason to believe this was actually an old gravel pit. Its just a bunch of changes in topography in about a 200 acre area. I'd love to know if there is any real and confirmed history of it being an area where gravel was dug before the lake was impounded. it seem like old Lewisville photos appear from time to time. I haven't seen one showing this area though..

oh, we caught limits on the "gravel pits" earlier this week. the fish are on top of the humps. kind of like a late spring early summer pattern. drop slabs to the bottom and bounce..
