carp, buffalo, grass carp(common name), shad, perch, small mud cat, golden eye, skip jack, eel, river suckers, drum. Depending on size cut in strips, chunks or use whole but always scale.
In Oklahoma you can add some others to that list but it might start an argument here.

I'm not saying anything against Team Catfish, but I've never caught quality fish on any kind of stink bait. If you want a big blue go with whole shad or big shad heads, also buffalo carp works good. Cut it into steaks and run a big circle hook through the spine at an angle. Same thing with big shad 8 in or bigger. Definitely use fresh shad or buffalo though.

Shad, Shad, Shad, Oh and perch, and carp...or gasper. By the way how do you hook your shad with the circle hooks? I seem to have heard once that you shouldn't have much bait inside the hook.

I would use whatever is easiest for you. I prefer to catch shad after I put in and then go fishing. I don't care for the smell of stink baits and for me, most other baits don't produce. I even see some people buying goldfish for bait.

If you use live perch, do you need to cut them to bleed a little or just hook them behind the back dorsal and chunk them out there???? Just wondering a way to add scent to a live perch to bring in the kitties, and ring their dinner bell ????
