I have been using Slab Buster Crappie Jigs with great results especially when the crappie are finicky. The solid plastic jigs are garlic scented and worth a look if you are interested. A retired farmer from Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri has been making these jig bodies for a long time. His name is Jack and if you talk to him, he does love to talk about crappie fishing. You can view the website if you are interested at: http://www.slabbuster.com/index.htmYou will notice some very interesting color combinations plus the tried and true color combinations. Jigs have been effective for me when the crappie are very finicky and a scent enhances the bite. They come in bags of 12 (without hooks). Pricing can be obtained from Jack. I had got some of those also. They are the same as a rocky top super slab just poured with a little more flexible plastic. They are in my opinion exactly like the bobby garland one's that are available also.
Good baits!

It has been my experience that slab buster jigs do not hold up like the rocky tops do. You know the old saying, you get what you pay for.

Interesting comment, kobbycrappie. The posting was to provide information for those that might want something different at a reasonable price, not as a comparison of one product versus another. Perhaps you would want to start a posting comparing the two products or the rocky top versus the hand tied jigs??
The yellow/hot pink (double ugly) and the pumpkin/chartreuse are two colors I normally would not use in stained water, but have suprizinly proven effective this year besides the other productive colors normally used. 20-30 crappie on one jig body at 13 cents is not bad in my book, I normally lose them before I can catch that many on one anyway. I use hand tied jigs the majority of the time such as those produced by Jigum and Thump It. This is just another tool in your arsenal.
Check them out if you care too, otherwise utilize your favorites.

Dabber, Sorry if you were offended by my post. As I stated,it has been MY experience with using both of these baits that the rocky tops hold up better than the slab buster. Your results may be different than mine. I do agree that they both are great jigs for catching crappie. Heck, I probably catch more crappie with my own hand tied jigs than anything else I fish.

I like them. Perl blue and white, and LSU color (don't know the name but purple and yellow) are my favorites.

Hey, I appreciate the info and the comparison too. How much is the price on those usually anyway? I know you said to call the guy but I be lazy. He doesn't post prices on the website because he understandably tries to keep his distribution points happy by not selling direct to areas that have his product on store shelves nearby and if he posted his wholesale price then some store owners might not like the customer knowing how much they are marking it up. That is very common with wholesale products. He will deal direct to you if his distribution network doesn't have a store in your local area and the price he charges is closer to what he charges the distributor than what you can get them for off the shelf at a store. ~30-80% cheaper but, it isn't like you're talking big money either way. $1.50 vs. $2.25 per pack isn't a deal breaker to me. I know his prices are comparable to what you would pay for a panfish assassin at academy.

Is there anywhere in Texas where you can buy these off the shelf? How long (what size) are the baits? Are they 1" long? 1.5"? 2"? 5"? Thanks
