Caught plenty of shad in the state park and fished around Preston point in 30-40 fow. Caught lots of smaller striper {12 inch to 25 inch }. We keep 6 gut hooked plus we caught this large blue 43 lbs and 3 other blues up to 8 lbs. My buddies thought I knew what I was doing when we stopped and caught fish from daylight till 1:00 in the afternoon and never moved the boat. But I had to tell them Jd helped me out.

I fished that same area, a few years ago, in the rain, with very similar results, and caught a 35lbs blue catfish.

How did you prepare that Catfish??? smile

I pulled thick 2" fillets off each side, and half of that was fat, so I filleted off the fat, and tried to deep fat fry it and it wasn't any good. Maybe these bigger cats are better on the smoker where the remaining fat can be rendered off.

That's a real good blue cat and a big fish!

One you build and fish with your own hand built custom rod you will fish with nothing else!

LOL!!!

I'm just a guy with an electric smoker, a bag of wood chips, and a long extension cord smile.

I know I don't want to mess with another one of those blues again.

Thanks. Mstewart I prepare a brine and soak them in the refrigerator for 24 hours then smoke them on a wood smoker just like smoked salmon.

I would like to catch that but I would never keep it. not because of catch and release, because of what the heck will I do with 24lbs of catfish guts.
