I got this in an e-mail and couldn't believe what I saw. It's either a display of unbelieveable skill and luck or fake. I'm not sure.

man i cant believe you would even ask that question, im not trying to bring out your IQ, but damn Well it looked real to me, I know that the stunt planes have enough power to take off vertically, (that means straight up) with the torque of the engine and the rudder kicked all the way to the left as it is in the video, not that you would notice, and what appears to be the frame of the wing exposed, not that you would notice, it seems very possible to me. I saw a video on you tube where a RC plane did basically the same manuver with wing broken off, so if you want to call my I.Q. into question I would be more than happy to compare it to yours anyday, I'm confident I would come out way ahead, perhaps you don't know anything about aerodynamics and are just running your mouth without your brain engauged. There are alot of people in this world like you, they are very common, nothing to be proud of but I'm sure you think your quite cute. By the way the aerodynamics for an RC plane use exactly the same laws of Physics as piloted aircraft do. There is a cure for your ignorance, that would be knowledge. Don't fear it, embrace it. Why don't you do some reading and get back with me when you have a clue. In the meantime go ahead and insult people you don't know because your such a big man behind the keyboard and computer. Hopefully someone can teach you a lesson old school style to prevent your alligator mouth over-riding your hummingbire a$$, it might save you some pain in the longrun. If you want to match wits with someone, make sure your not unarmed. If you have anything intelligent to reply with please feel free, otherwise find someone else to attempt to aggitate, because I'm done with you.

Really sorry I posted the video, I was hopeing someone with some video or aerodynamic expertise would reply and not Bubba. I didn't really want the opinions of people who don't really know anything about videos but thats what I get for posting it without saying what I was after. Guess I could have just taken it to Walmart and asked there.

I'm not sure on this airframe, but if a wing "fell" off you would see fuel coming out of the eng. feed manifold, I am a flight engineer so i have some experience on a/c

I don't think it's real, but it's pretty convincing. You can absolutely fly an RC Extra 300 (the plane in the video) on its side like that with the rudder all the way to one side as I've done it myself. I don't think you could do it at that slow a speed though. The other thing that seems out of whack is that the transition from sideways flight to landing causes a bounce just like an RC plane would bounce. RC plane physics do differ from full size physics in one major way...power to weight ratio. If that plane weighed what a full size plane would weigh that bounce would have demolished it or at the very least collapsed the landing gear.
I feel that the loss of focus fight after the plane lands and the before the canopy opens is used as a dissolve to cut from the RC footage to the full-scale footage. I'd guess that this is probably some kind of advertising ploy done by the company the plane is logoed for.

Im also not sure on small planes but in the shot where you can see the fuselage with the wing off its a clean cut. How can that happen.? wheres the wing anti-ice ducting, aileron cables, wiring harnesses etc

Could be real. Those small planes don't have anti-ice capabilities. They are designed for aerobatics and he got control using a knife edge maneuver which that design is very easily capable of holding for long periods. Other than aileron cables snapping I think it's possible. Cool video though.

Thanks for the intelligent answers guys. I thought about the fuel, but there are a/c with the fuel tank in the main body and not the wings. The quality of the video is such that it makes it hard to determine any cables and such where the wing attaches. The landing did look questionable but I thought the forward airspeed at that point was probably around 50mph or less and the height wasn't too high. Just some of my reasoning. BTW blu Ranger, I voted @ 10:30A.M. Take your own advice. I don't need it.
