Does anyone know where I can obtain an inexpensive pedestal base for a Regal vice?
I’m outfitting a fly tyin' outfit for a friend and I am giving him my old faithful Regal vise but want to keep the clamp mount, and I need to find a pedestal base.
Parting with that vise is like losing an old friend but have not used it in years since acquiring my DynaKing Barracuda.
Any informamtion will be appreciated. Thanks, George Glazener

BPS sells a pedestal base for 14.95. Go to the fly fishing then fly fishing tools. Good luck hope this helps.

Thanks Deck, I am familiar with this base stand and it is a bit on the light for the Regal.

George: I thought I had one around here that I bought about 15 years ago at Barlow's, but I can't find it. I must have given it away when I gave Mitch both of my old Regals back in January. I bought that one because while the Regal bronze base looked cool, I quickly tired of chasing that thing all over the table. The one I bought at Barlow's fixed the problem. It was very heavy and never went anywhere. Seems like I only paid about 10 bucks for it, course 10 bucks dosen't go as far as it did about 15 years ago.
I know whst you mean about not using the Regal much since getting the Dyna-King.

Big Dale Thanks Dale, sounds like we’ve been down the same road with our vices (pun inended) I tied my first fly almost 50 years ago on a vice from my son’s Boy Scout merit badge kit. Began anew in early 80’s tyin’ bucktail jigs with a Cabela Master vice – still the best beginner’s vice IMO. Upgraded to my old faithful Regal and tied flies for many years – no telling how many hundreds or thousand flies and jigs came off that old vice. Early 90’s began tyin’ striper flies and salty flies and up graded to the very best vice on the market IMO – DynaKing. George Glazener

George: I think I still have the old Thompson Model A that I started on after I bought it at an Austin Gun Show in 1984. I ought to find a kid getting started to give it to. I also picked up a copy of Fling and Puterbaugh's Basic Manual of Fly-Tying when I saw one the other day at Half Priced Books that will go with that one although I prefer to find kids that want to start fly tying before they have learned to read very good.
I also still have an old Thompson marked F that Fred Dupre's grandfather used to tie on. It looks more like an old farm implement, but I think I will keep that one...sometimes I just think some of that old stuff just looks very cool.
