10-31-08 Fished first time guest John & his son Trip ( John III ) Friday on Hubbard. We started at 8:00 am and finished around 1:30pm. Pretty tough day for keeper whites . John called last week and wanted to take his son out, I did explain to him that fishing is just starting to turn on and it is up and down. He really wanted to catch a keeper hybrid and that is was we tried for most of the morning. I have been catching some really shallow but could not find them on this day. Found birds and bait first thing but no fish Seen Matt & SeaPro Todd out and they called to let me know some more birds were working down south. We heading that way and caught some huge whites . Thanks for the call guys, cant be everywhere all the time We kept them enough for dinner that night and released the rest. It is picking up but the later morning late midday bite is better. I actually remembered to take my camera and I changed the batteries the night before, the dang thing would not work.. All fish caught on TNT 180s , 4 inch Shanghai swim baits and Humdingers in 2ft to 28ft water. Winds got strong to 15-20 S-SW and water temp was 64 degrees. 11-01-08 Fished with good friend JV4 and my dog Derby Saturday on Hubbard. We started at 7:30am and fished till about 10:30. We did not have a lot of time to fish because we had some plans to go TMS to watch some races, actually to sit in a suite and drink free beer and eat free food I think we dropped a slab 1 time and the rest were swim baits. Kind of went on a scouting mission today. We did end up with a couple of really nice hybrids but that was it. Missed a few fish but I think they were small whites and could not eat the 4 inch bait. It will get better and Hubbard always seems to lag behind the other lakes in the winter. Fish caught on 4 inch Shanghai swim baits in 3ft water. Winds was 10-12 SW and water temps were 65 degrees. Seen a few TFFs out and talked to most of them. Used the cell phone to snap a picture.

John I tried early to find some Hybrids and had no success. Glad you guys were able to pick up some fish. We did catch some good sandies between 10 and 11:30 on Saturday morn. The fish were in about 12-14 ft of water right on the bottom. Found a lot of smaller fish in the shallows but none were worth keeping.
I may try to get out Sunday afternoon. Waiting at home right now for a refrigerator to be delivered.
Good luck guys.

You're welcome John! You helped me catch fish a bunch of times on the lake I havent run into the other seaPro in a while The fish were constantly on the move. We tried about 5 spots and found them on three, all at points with head wind or cross wind. The hybrids and magnums were feeding shallow. I mean we chunked our humdingers and swim baits right at the shore lines, and the hybrids and magnums were in 1-3 ft. But they would stay 30-40 mins and then gone. I am just glad to see the magnums back, and hybrids too. Not a great day, but a relatively good day compare to the past 3-4 trips Thanks for the fun trip Matt!! My boat the next time

Nice work JV & Nitro!!! Hope to have a new boat soon, so will keep ya'll posted. Nitro did u cath those 2 on the PURPLE Buzzbait? No, it's not time for the PBB yet, but it's getting close But, your swim baits are awesome I really like the action they produce at all retreive speeds and they are extremely durable, which is a hard combination to find. The hybrids are on the move right now and being in the right place at the right time, with the right bait, is key. Our scouting trip did yield a couple of nice hybrids, but it was short lived. As the water cools the hybrids will limit their movement to smaller areas, which means that once you find them, you will be able to stay on them. But that's still a month, or so, away. For the time being, it's a hunting we will go
