Too many fisherman keeping to many fish.Their is less of all fish and definently less larger fish. I do know one thing I have never seen a fish survive hot greese.

Catch and release is tough on these big fish espically in the hot months. Good luck. clete

I would like to see some pictures of those.........As much as I hate to say it we could learn a lot from the bass fishermen...most of them catch and release...they have trophy class lakes...and not to mention an amazing sharelunker stocking program...

If possible check the number of striper/hybrids guides per lake back 20 years ago to today's number per lake + number of fisherman now targeting stripers/hybrids. I know on my home lake only a hand full of folks 20 years ago targeted hybrids. Most of the time hybrids were caught while fishing for something else. Today a large number of fisherman target only hybrids. It is tough to make it to 10+lbs when there is a much greater chance of getting caught at 6lbs. They just do not have TIME to grow to the giant size anymore.

Now you can take 1 big red a year and only catch red snapper during a full moon in a month that starts with J or something crazy like that.

That's what I think about me hammer

Heck,

I've caught big Hybrids out at Cedar Creek. Here are some of them -

I wanted pics of some HUGE Hybrids and Stripers. There are some very interesting theories as to why they aren't around anymore. I seem to remember some guide catching some giants below PK Damn, but got into some trouble for something. I don't remember the details. Anybody know anything about that, or am I dreaming?

It ain't rocket science why there are not as many big fish ... too many fishermen keeping too many fish, too many undersized hybrids/stripers kept by fishermen who don't know the difference between a sandbass and a hybrid/striper, too many fishermen into "body counts" to brag about what a great fisherman they are, too many guides not encouraging catch and release .... in the end, we will see more restrictive size & number of keeper limits, or we will witness the overall continuing decline of trophy size fish.
Catch and release is the future of our fishing, with keeping only enough legal fish to eat, without "stocking up the freezer".
Like another poster stated, the bass fishermen are way ahead of the sandbass/hybrid/striper/catfish fishermen in this regard.

Bass fishermen have an advantage--their chosen fish tastes like poo.

How many, if any, of the stripers in the rivers and lakes in Texas actually migrate from the ocean?
