Took my 4 year old fishing partner out with me on Joe Pool at about 8:30 this morning. I tried for crappie most of the morning to no avail - very windy and nearly impossible to jig anywhere but the south banks of the lake.

I managed one small crappie by lunch time (sad), and my partner was a little irritated that he didn't have something to play with in the live well. He fished right there with me all morning, throwing a mini spinner bait tipped with a chartreuse rubber shad on the Zebco that Grandpa gave him.

We were about to leave, and thought we'd check out some humps and see if we could locate some sandies. We found birds working about 100 yards off the first boat ramp in Lynn Creek Park, with minor top water action. I was throwing a TNT holo 1.5oz slab, catching them about every other throw, many unders. Seth kept throwing the mini spin with rubber shad and boated three legal sandies himself!

It was a good end to a long day... we left them biting and birds still working. Ended up with a dozen keeper sandies and two LMB.

Take a kid fishing!

That is one happy fisherman there, congratulations. Supervisor said when he came across Joe pool this morning about 6:30 the water was a boiling with a feeding frenzy. I told my coworker that was not what I want to here while I am tied down at work.

Thanks everyone - I was proud of him. It was also good to see the birds back at JP again, this was the first time of the season I've seen them working.

Good luck everybody.

Yep, that is one happy little fisherman wink Congrats!

I got out on JP today (Nov 2) and had to work pretty hard to get 15 fish. I caught most of the fish between noon and 3pm, using slabs at 30 ft - - no bites shallower than that, but a few at 35+ ft. The bite was pretty light and sporadic for me. Got some on the dropoffs E of Lynn Creek park, and the remainder over by the State Park (E side). Got a few more with Hell-Pet, but they were small. Lots of boat traffic out there today - - really great weather.
